Medicines will be dispensed by electronic prescription

The dispensing of medicines by electronic prescription in Ukraine will begin in stages. The first vacations start next year. What medications will be available?

Ukraine’s Health Minister Maxim Stepanov announced on Sunday, September 20, the timing of the issuance of electronic prescription drugs. It also said what drugs can be obtained this way, according to the agency’s website.

This initiative arose because the country does not control the issue of prescription drugs in pharmacies. As a result, the health of citizens deteriorates, Stepanov emphasized.

“This problem also stems from the reluctance of some physicians to prescribe as required by relevant regulations. This, in turn, leads to shifting responsibility for prescribing drugs from physicians to pharmacists and reduces the availability of drugs to the population.” said the head of the Ministry of Health.

He pointed out that in 2021 the electronic prescription of narcotic drugs, insulins, and immunosuppressants will begin. Next year, 2022: antibiotics. And starting in 2023, other groups of prescription drugs will be dispensed.
