One of the developers of the chemical warfare agent Novichok, Vil Mirzayanov, has apologized to the leader of the Russian opposition Alexei Navalny, who is now at the German Charite clinic.
He announced it on the air of the Dozhd television channel.
“I sincerely apologize to Navalny for being involved in this criminal business – the development of this substance with which he was poisoned,” the message reads.
It is specified that the famous chemist resides in the United States since 1995. According to Mirzayanov, after that he dedicated the rest of his life to the fight against the use of military poisons.
He also said that in 1993 he met a man who survived Novichok poisoning: he had symptoms that Navalny himself mentioned in his recent post.
“All the symptoms are similar. He got over it, he survived. Apparently, Navalny will have to be patient. But ultimately he must be healthy,” he said.
Let us remind you that the incident with Navalny occurred on August 20. Then he felt bad on board the plane. He was transferred to a hospital in Omsk in serious condition, and two days later he was taken to Berlin and placed in the Charite clinic.
Independent laboratories in Germany, France, and Sweden concluded that Navalny was poisoned with a nerve agent from the Novichok group. On Monday, September 14, it became known that the politician was completely disconnected from the fan, got out of bed alone and is trying to walk a bit.
Yesterday, September 19, the politician published a post on his Facebook page in which he talked about the progress of his recovery.
