The FBI confirmed a check on Donald Trump’s package, in which they found an extremely toxic substance ricin, for which there is no antidote. Now the special services look for the sender of the envelope.
Reported by CNN.
“The FBI and its partners in the United States Secret Service and the Postal Service inspection are examining a suspicious letter received at a United States government post office. There are currently no indications of a threat to public safety,” said the FBI on Twitter.
The security service also recalled that all correspondence received by the White House is reviewed before being delivered to the president. The FBI and the United States Secret Service are already investigating the sender of the letter. At the moment it is known that it was sent from Canada.
Ricin – a protein poison of vegetable origin, extremely dangerous for humans, and its lethal dose is approximately 0.3 mg. It is six thousand times more poisonous than potassium cyanide. Attempts to use the substance in medicine are known, but have failed. Ricin is obtained from castor beans by processing the cake that remains after the production of castor oil. That is, making it bearable is not difficult even without special technologies. There is no antidote for that.
In 2013, several people tried to send ricin letters to US President Barack Obama and other dignitaries. Then, in May of the same year, a threatening letter containing ricin was sent to the mayor of New York. Actress Shannon Richardson, suspected of sending dangerous letters, was later indicted in Texas.
Recall that unknown persons sent a package with castor poison to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, it was intercepted by the forces of order.
Also earlier, “Strana” wrote that two Russian diplomats were declared persona non grata in the Czech Republic, and are now forced to leave the country. This was due to a scandal that erupted over the threat of poisoning Czech politicians with ricin (a highly toxic plant poison). The decision to expel Russian diplomats from the country was announced by Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis and Foreign Minister Tomas Petřicek.
