The organizers of the Eurovision International Music Competition presented four scenarios for the event in 2021. The format of the competition will depend on the epidemiological situation in the world, according to the Eurovision website.
The first, traditional option consists of holding a competition in the Ahoy concert hall in Rotterdam (Netherlands), where the jury and the public will be present. In this case, contestants may attend other events held in the city.
The second option is the introduction of certain restrictions: a social distance will be observed in the room, the number of international delegations and representatives of the press will be reduced. Restrictions will apply to city events as well.
Under the third scenario, contestants who are unable to come to Rotterdam due to closed borders will have the opportunity to perform remotely while at home.
The fourth version of the Eurovision Song Contest takes on a completely online format. In this case, all accompanying events in Rotterdam will be canceled.
In 2020, Eurovision was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. In June, organizers announced the dates for next year’s competition. So, the semifinals will take place on May 18 and 20, and the final is scheduled for May 22.
