Hasidim left the border with Ukraine
Since Friday morning, the Hasidim left neutral territory, where they spent several days. At the moment there are no foreigners there.
All the Hasidic pilgrims left the neutral zone on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, where they had been since the beginning of the week. This was announced on Friday, September 18, by the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Serhiy Deyneko, reports the press service of the department.
“We began to register a gradual decrease of foreigners in this direction in the morning. Their number near our border decreased rapidly during the day. There was also a constant gradual return to the territory of the Republic of Belarus,” said the head of the border department.
He noted that foreign citizens who planned to come to Ukraine for the purpose of pilgrimage in this direction, began to arrive at the Ukrainian border from September 14. In total, more than a thousand people were here before yesterday. Another group of foreigners on the border with Belarus was searched in front of the Dolsk checkpoint in Volyn, but after clarification about the entry restriction, they returned within hours.
“We explain to foreigners every day that in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, by decision of the Government, foreigners were prohibited from entering Ukraine. And they clearly knew this even before they started coming to us. Unfortunately, , they ignored calls from Ukraine to refrain from doing so. ” We regret that by trusting the incomprehensible promises that the pilgrims appealed to in the talks, they created the illusion of the possibility of entering Ukraine, “Deineko said.
It is noted that at this time all foreign pilgrims have left the territory near the border with Ukraine.
“Inhuman conditions”. Hasidim storm Ukraine
The day before, the Interior Ministry gave a final answer: the border will not be opened for Hasidic pilgrims, after which Israel asked the Hasidim to return home.
