The Verkhovna Rada intends to abandon the monetization of the “baby pack” and leave it in its natural form. The corresponding bill No. 3006a was supported as a basis by 316 deputies.

Reported by RBC-Ukraine.

The authors of the document explain that, according to the UNICEF survey, 79% of families with children felt the positive impact of the program on the family budget. Almost half (49%) of the recipients of the “package” managed to save significantly on the purchase of goods for the baby in the first months of life.

In addition, the authors of the bill emphasize, in two years the number of articles in the package has multiplied by 2.5. If in 2018 only 35% of parents preferred a package to a cash payment, now 8 out of 10 families want to receive assistance in kind.

The document states that temporarily – from October 1 to December 31 of this year – the purchase of a one-time in-kind assistance “baby package” is organized and carried out through the Office of Project Services of the UN under a pilot project.

After purchase, the “packages” will be delivered to the maternity wards and welfare departments.

According to the law, as of January 1, 2021, the provision of this punctual help, the ordering process, purchase and transport to health institutions (maternity or maternity wards, perinatal centers, neonatal centers, etc.) is carried out in accordance with with the Public Procurement Law. “.

We remind you that in August the Verkhovna Rada registered the corresponding bill No. 3006a.

As RBC-Ukraine wrote, the Ministry of Social Policy does not exclude the return of “baby packages” in kind instead of payments.
