The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced that a vaccine against the coronavirus will appear soon. It will take 4 to 8 weeks, he said.
He said it in an interview with Fox and Friends.
“I sped up the process with the FDA (FDA) … We will have the vaccine in a few weeks. It could be four weeks, it could be eight weeks … We have a lot of big companies,” he said.
We will remember, previously Trump has already called the moment of the appearance of the vaccine, which, according to him, should be ready by the end of the year and perhaps even by the end of October.
“We continue to produce a safe and effective vaccine in the record timeframe that has been discussed. We will receive it, in my opinion, by the end of the year. Maybe even at the end of October,” Trump said in early September.
As RBC-Ukraine wrote, America’s leading infectious disease specialist urged not to rush with a COVID-19 vaccine. In his opinion, using the coronavirus vaccine in an emergency, before its effectiveness is proven, is a bad idea.
In addition, the United States previously signed a contract with Moderna for the production and supply of 100 million doses of coronavirus vaccine. Moderna will manufacture the vaccine during clinical trials.
