Hasidim on the border

The head of the foreign policy department sent an urgent letter to the Ukrainian president with a request only for the Rosh Hashana period to let the Hasidim into Ukraine.

Israeli Foreign Minister Aryeh Deri appealed to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday, September 15, with a request for Hasidic pilgrims who are trapped on the Ukraine-Belarus border to enter the country. This is discussed in a letter sent by Israeli Ambassador Joel Lyon.

“Dear Sir, on a personal and cordial note, practically in the last moments, we appealed to you with a request to allow, for extraordinary humanitarian reasons, the entry into Ukraine of those who are on the border with Belarus, only during the Rosh period. Hashanah, taking into account the restrictions and the full implementation of all the health regulations of the COVID-19 period, which his country considers necessary, ”the letter says.

By the way, Vladimir Zelensky is visiting Austria today.

And in the morning, Zelensky held a meeting on the situation with the Hasidim who are trapped on the border of Belarus and Ukraine. The border guards informed Zelensky that the border was under protection and that the Hasidim would not break through.

It was later reported that the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was asking Belarus not to issue Hasidim for travel to Ukraine.
