Poland’s Central Anti-Corruption Office has discovered the property of former Ukrainian boss Slawomir Novak, previously unknown to the investigation, who is suspected of bribery and money laundering. In particular, detectives found caches that contained a total of more than $ 1.15 million.
Polsat News reports on this Tuesday, September 15, citing sources.
According to journalists, the investigators found two special hiding places, within which there were 536,000 euros, 470,000 dollars and 30,000 zlotys, a total of more than 4 million zlotys (more than 30 million hryvnia at the exchange rate).
Furthermore, the bureau seized two apartments worth 2 million zlotys (15 million hryvnia) and a Land Rover car. According to the investigation, the money and property found are associated with Novak’s corrupt activities.
“The new findings show a much larger scale of Slawomir Novak’s actions than previously thought,” the channel’s source said.
At the moment, the investigators’ efforts are focused on finding other properties and cash reserves belonging to the former head of Ukravtodor.
Let us remind you that on July 20, the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption of Poland reported that Novak was arrested on suspicion of corruption and leading an organized criminal group. On July 21, the Polish Central Anti-Corruption Office informed him of the suspicion of taking a bribe.
Now, the former head of Ukravtodor faces 12 years in prison. Strana was investigating whether there were signs of political persecution by the Polish authorities in the Novak case.
