The Interior Ministry demanded the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies
The Attorney General is confident that the IMF has no reason to be concerned about the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies.
Attorney General Irina Venediktova believes that Ukraine’s international partners should not worry about the situation around anti-corruption institutions. She said this in an interview with Savik Shuster.
Thus, the Attorney General commented on the situation with the resignation of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Nazar Kholodnitsky and the unconstitutional recognition of the decree on the appointment of Artem Sytnyk as director of the National Anti-Corruption Office of Ukraine.
Venediktova called for “separating the people from the institutions.”
“None of us is the owner of the position you occupy. The question is not in the names, the question in the institutions. The institutions must function completely independently and in the manner prescribed by law, therefore, there are reasons to let international partners worry that something is happening with there is absolutely no institute, “he said.
As reported, a few days earlier, the IMF made additional support to Ukraine dependent on the work of anti-corruption agencies.
Previously, the Cabinet of Ministers ruled out the possibility of refusing to grant a new loan from the International Monetary Fund.
