About 1,000 girls and women attended Saturday’s protest. Some of them were beaten or detained by unknown persons dressed in military uniforms and ski masks.

A traditional women’s march takes place in Minsk on Saturday, September 12, attended by about a thousand girls. The honor of its participants was stopped by the security forces who arrived in a column of transport vehicles, reports TUT.BY.

Initially, several dozen participants of the march gathered at the Minsk City Hall. Even earlier, several minibuses and policemen appeared near the square.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., the women lined up in a column and began to applaud, after which the men in ski masks appeared. The girls surrounded them and tried to take off their ski masks, reinforcements arrived to the security forces.

Subsequently, the arrests began in Freedom Square. Several women were put into a minibus, other participants blocked it and did not let it pass.

Despite the actions of the security forces, the number of protesters continued to grow and, according to TUT.BY, has already reached 1,000. It was also reported that the security forces indiscriminately beat both women and the elderly. According to the latest information, the participants of the march made their way to Pobediteley Avenue.
