Attorney General Irina Venediktova could not say how many criminal proceedings involving the former president of Ukraine, the people’s deputy of “European Solidarity” Petro Poroshenko, are now being investigated.

Ukraine’s attorney general, Iryna Venediktova, considers the growing interest in criminal proceedings involving the former president, European Solidarity MP Petro Poroshenko, as PR. She said so in an interview with Savik Shuster, published on September 12.

Venediktova, in particular, found it difficult to name the number of industries in which Poroshenko appears.

“I cannot say a specific figure, because now [постоянно] something is happening as determined by the courts … They are reopening these cases … ”- he said.

The Attorney General said that currently Poroshenko’s suspicion was surrendered only in a criminal proceeding on possible violations in the appointment of Sergei Semochko as the first deputy chief of the Foreign Intelligence Service.

“Now that the suspect is familiarizing himself with the materials of the case, we will see when we take the case to court and he will end it. a certain PR of famous people “, – said Venediktova.

On July 1, 2020, Poroshenko announced that he was involved in 24 criminal proceedings. On the eve of his lawyer, Igor Golovan said that the Security Service of Ukraine opened 15 more cases against the former president.

So far, the suspicions have only been announced in the case of Semochko’s appointment as SVR’s first deputy director. The investigation believes that Poroshenko, as president, in 2018, following Semochko’s appointment, issued a clearly criminal order, which persuaded a military officer to abuse his authority. On July 7, RRG completed an investigation into this production.

In June, several Western countries, including the United States, Canada and Germany, called on the Ukrainian authorities to defend the rule of law and the equality of citizens before the law. In addition, the American Committee of the Congress of Ukraine, which represents the interests of about 1.5 million US citizens of Ukrainian origin, criticized the criminal proceedings against Poroshenko.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes his predecessor is using criminal cases against him to raise the ratings of the European Solidarity party ahead of the fall local elections.
