There will be no changes to the silence regime in Donbass, a source told RBC-Ukraine who is familiar with the negotiations of political advisers in the Normandy format, which are taking place in Berlin.
Negotiations of political advisers to the leaders of Normandy Four countries in Berlin continue, but an agreement has already been reached to extend the silence in the Donbass. The RBC-Ukraine newspaper was informed about this by a source familiar with the negotiations.
“It is true that the regime of silence will continue. There will be no radical changes, despite the provocations,” said the source.
Today, a Ukrainian delegation headed by the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for the Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, Aleksey Reznikov, arrived in Berlin to participate in negotiations at the level of political advisers in the Normandy format. The meeting was supposed to take place on August 28, but was postponed: according to the official version, in connection with a business trip by the representative of France. The meeting was scheduled to discuss, in particular, the exchange of detainees, as well as the preparation of the summit of the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France.
July 22, 2020 Trilateral Contact Group agreed to a total and complete ceasefire in Donbas since midnight on July 27.
According to the Chief of Staff – Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ruslan Khomchak, the ceasefire was implemented on both sides and the isolated cases of its violation were not systemic.
On September 6, as a result of the bombing of a position of Joint Forces units near Prychepilovka, Luhansk Oblast, a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received injuries incompatible with life. This is the first loss of the Armed Forces since the start of the ceasefire.
Another soldier was injured as a result of a targeted bombardment in the Krasnogorovka area of the Donetsk region, two – in the explosion of an unknown device. Also on September 6, it was learned of the death of two soldiers in a minefield during the evacuation of the fire.
The Office of the President of Ukraine believes that the attacks were carried out with a provocative purpose. “We demand that Russia intervene in the situation and influence the provocative behavior of illegal armed groups in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions to maintain the ceasefire,” the OPU said on September 7.
