Kizim considers the actions of the Belarusian border guards as a provocation
The Ukrainian ambassador had to open the trunk of his car while crossing the Belarusian border.
Employees of the Belarusian State Border Control violated the Vienna Convention, which guarantees the inviolability of diplomats and their luggage, the search of which is prohibited. This was announced on Friday, September 11, by the Belarusian opposition publication Tut, after publishing a video.
In the video, the border guards ask Kizim to open the trunk at the border. It says that this cannot be done under the Vienna Convention.
“Now you are taking a very bad step, I will write you a note. We are starting a diplomatic war, do you want this?”, The diplomat replies.
As a result, he opened the trunk, the border guard thanked him. The incident took place on September 5 at the Novaya Guta checkpoint.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian ambassador to Belarus, Igor Kizim, returned to Minsk after being called to Kiev. He spoke about the provocation of the Belarusian border guards and the anti-Ukrainian rhetoric of the Minsk officer.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said Ukraine-Belarus contacts were “on hold.” They will only be restored when the situation does not damage Ukraine’s reputation.
