Lyashko told who is sickest with coronavirus in Ukraine
People with diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases are often victims of the disease, said the chief health officer.
About 90 percent of all patients with a new type of coronavirus infection in Ukraine are elderly or chronically ill. This was announced on Thursday, September 10, by Ukraine’s Chief Medical Officer Viktor Lyashko, on the air of Ukraine 24 television channel.
The official said that people with underlying medical conditions, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease, are often the victims of the disease.
“By observing anti-epidemiological norms, in particular social distance and the mask regime, people, first of all, take care of their own parents, grandmothers, grandparents and other elderly people,” Lyashko emphasized.
According to him, the current healthcare system in Ukraine has nothing to do with the one in March and now the medical system is ready to provide assistance to all COVID-19 patients in need.
Furthermore, Lyashko expressed confidence that the strict quarantine measures introduced in Ukraine in March were not in vain.
“March, April: we see isolated cases across the country, we see Western Europe with a collapse of the health system. Their health systems have nowhere to take and hospitalize people, the virus is new, it is not known how it will behave, all countries are taking unprecedented measures. I’m ashamed? Never in my life will I be ashamed of the fact that we introduced quarantine restrictions in March, ”he said.
Earlier, Viktor Lyashko named a symptom that almost always indicates COVID-19.
Coronavirus testing rules will be updated
