Ukrainian people’s deputy Andriy Derkach, who does not belong to any faction, said that next week he would organize a press conference in which he would present “shocking facts about the denunciation of democratic corruption.”
Verkhovna non-fractional popular deputy Rada Andriy Derkach called the sanctions imposed against him by the US Treasury Department as revenge and announced a press conference on an alleged new corruption investigation in the States. He wrote about this on his Facebook.
“This is revenge against me as a representative of the investigative team. It does not matter how this revenge manifests itself: whether it is the abolition of a US visa at the request of the representatives of Democracy at the US Embassy or my deportation from the Federation Russian, as it was in 2017, “he said. …
Derkach said that next week he will organize a press conference, where he will present “shocking facts that expose democratic corruption.”
“It is precisely because of the leakage of information about the next press conference that information about the sanctions came out today. Democrats are very afraid. Because every word I will say is backed by interesting figures, documents and recordings. I will not reject the press conference: at stake – the independence of the state and the sovereignty of Ukraine “, – wrote the deputy.
He also pointed out that his inclusion on the sanctions list opens up the opportunity for him to defend his interests in the legal field, in court.
On September 10, the United States Department of the Treasury added Derkach to the sanctions list, claiming that he is a Russian agent and is trying to interfere in the upcoming presidential elections.
In May, June and July, Derkach published three deliveries of recordings of alleged telephone conversations by the fifth Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, which he conducted in 2015-2016 with various politicians. In particular, the alleged recordings of conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and US presidential candidate Joe Biden were released.
In the recordings, people with voices similar to Poroshenko and Biden, in particular, discussed the resignation of then-Attorney General Viktor Shokin and Kiev’s receipt of US $ 1 billion in loan guarantees from the United States. Derkach believes that Biden could have put pressure on the Ukrainian leadership.
The current president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, said these films should be the subject of an investigation. According to Evropeyskaya Pravda, the US State Department expressed concern to the Ukrainian authorities about this statement, and considered Zelensky’s words as interference in the US elections. Later, the head of state clarified that he was only interested in how the president could be intervened.
Poroshenko did not rule out that the President’s Office was involved in the disclosure of excerpts of his conversations with Biden, and the main objective of the scandal’s clients is the destruction of relations between Ukraine and the United States. At the same time, the former president claims that the audio files published by Derkach were fabricated, but that he was able to get the “raw materials” from Bankova.
Biden’s spokesman Andrew Bates said the tapes were heavily edited, but still nothing more than a donut hole.
The United States presidential elections will be held on November 3. The main rivals are Joe Biden and the current head of the White House, Donald Trump.
