«My entry into Belarus was, to put it mildly, unfriendly and began, in my view, with a provocation. My personal car, in which I was returning, was inspected by the Belarusian border guards in violation of international law on diplomatic relations, and certainly not in the spirit of our friendly bilateral relations. At the same time, the head of the border point did not give any explanation, “he said in an interview with TUT.BY.
According to Kizim, the head of the Novaya Guta checkpoint was instructed to inspect his car: “They probably wanted to find a bunch of weapons or an equipped militant in the trunk.” He stressed that this is a bad sign for the development of relations between the two countries and, most likely, is related to recent accusations by Ukraine of “heating up destructive forces” in Belarus. The embassy sent a note to the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ambassador also spoke about the results of the consultations in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine:
«The result of these consultations were recommendations for the Ukrainian leaders on the assessment and prospects for further development of relations. This practice exists in diplomacy, although for me personally this is the first experience of its kind. “
It should be remembered that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for the first time in independent history summoned the ambassador to Belarus for consultations in Kiev.
Ukraine has suspended all contacts with the Belarusian authorities until the situation in the country stabilizes.
However, the head of the department, Dmitry Kuleba, said that relations between the countries are maintained, despite the diplomatic pause, which refers only to official contacts between representatives of the states. On September 7 it emerged that the Ukrainian ambassador returned to Minsk after consultations, but bilateral contacts remained on hold.
After the fakes in the presidential elections on August 9, protests and mass strikes began throughout Belarus. Belarusians are demanding new fair elections with the participation of independent observers.
Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko has repeatedly accused Ukraine and other Western countries of interfering in the internal affairs of Belarus.
