If Ukraine does not reach an agreement with the Russian Federation to resolve the situation in Donbas, the Ukrainian authorities will have to resort to other solutions. These are the decisions of the National Security and Defense Council adopted in December 2019.
This was stated by the secretary of the NSDC, Oleksiy Danilov, on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24.
“We should try to come to an agreement with the Russian Federation to get them out of our house. If this fails, then we have the full decision to go to our draft NSDC decisions. We will do everything in our power to resolve all peacefully, “he said. …
Danilov noted that now the scenario to resolve the situation in Donbass is developing in accordance with the first decision of the NSDC. However, he declined to say what other options for the development of the events in the Donbass were adopted by the National Defense and Security Council.
“I cannot divulge what will happen next,” emphasized the NSDC secretary.
As a reminder, in December 2019, the Office of the President approved 5 scenarios for the return of the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. These scenarios were developed at a meeting of the NSDC in preparation for the Normandy meeting in Paris.
Note that recently Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his hope that the war in Donbass will end by the end of 2020, and the next meeting of the Normandy Four in Berlin will be a prerequisite for this.
