Actor Mikhail Efremov did not expect to be sentenced to eight years in prison and claims that lawyer Elman Pashayev “misled him”. He announced this to MK.ru on Wednesday September 9.
“I did not expect such a verdict. The lawyer set me up during these eight years. He promised one thing, but it turned out different,” Efremov said.
According to him, he wanted to change lawyers, but for some reason Pashayev visited him again in the morning.
“We did not seem to renew the contract, I thought another lawyer would come, but he came again,” continued the actor.
The actor added that Pashayev allegedly persuades him to appeal the verdict on the final day.
“He wants to send it (an appeal – ed.) By mail so that the date is fixed there. So, according to him, we will not expire. All of this is somehow strange. I think this is risky,” says Efremov, adding that he is confident only on his wife.
“Pashayev says it was she (Efremov’s wife – ed.) Who supposedly sent him. Is that so? There is no connection to her,” the artist summarized.
The publication notes that although calls and meetings with Efremov are not allowed. Human rights activists say no appeal was filed on the last day.
Recall that the tragedy took place on the night of June 8 in the center of Moscow. Efremov, driving his Jeep Grand Cherokee, crossed a solid double line, got into the opposite lane and collided with Sergey Zakharov’s truck. The man later died in hospital.
