Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the mayors’ revolt due to the introduction of strict quarantine in cities. He stressed that the state must protect its people, even if some may not like it.
He stated this during a press conference in Khmelnytsky.
The president connects the revolt of the city chiefs with the upcoming local elections.
“I am not at war with anyone … They want to please, open everything, close their eyes and not see that 200 children are sick in these cities. We simply do not have enough beds for the sick. For example, the Ivano-Frankivsk region, if there are I do not understand why the region should look like Italy, we see what is happening there, there are simply no beds, “he said.
In addition, Zelensky recalled the Kharkiv and Odessa regions, which are now leaders in new cases of coronavirus.
“Just look. Where there were no sick people, it wasn’t easy.” Give us the subway, “” everything will be fine “, and people support, take to the streets. And why are they leaders of Odessa and Kharkiv now? Those regions where there were 5, 10, 15 patients. So where are 100- 200 now? “, – summed up the president.
We recall, recently the mayors of Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil decided to sue the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine because the cities fall into the “red zone” of quarantine.
Today the Chernivtsi city council decided to file a lawsuit due to the strict quarantine.
We add that RBC-Ukraine in the article “Riots of the” Red Zone “How the Authority will Respond to the Quarantine Sabotage in the Regions” described how the government plans to fight against sabotage mayors and whether a new “blockade” is possible in Ukraine.
