Georgia’s Justice Minister promised Saakashvili better food in prison
If former President Mikheil Saakashvili arrives in Georgia, he will be detained at the border, Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani said.
Georgia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani, says that if former President Mikheil Saakashvili arrives in Georgia, he will be detained at the border. He said this on Tuesday, September 8, during an interview with the Georgian television company Rustavi 2.
During a conversation with a journalist, he pointed out that the former president of Georgia, Mikhail Saakashvili, in a Georgian prison will receive the best food, like all other prisoners in the country.
“Today’s Georgian prison is run to the highest international standards. It will have the best food. In November, even the use of frozen meat was banned, and we feed the prisoners fresh meat and seasonal fruits and have developed various kinds of menus “, explained the minister.
He stressed that in Georgia’s prison system, all convicts are given the same conditions, regardless of who they are.
“To be honest, to us all prisoners are the same,” Tsulukiani said.
The head of the Justice Ministry also claimed that Saakashvili will not be able to cause riots in Georgia, regardless of whether he is a fugitive or in prison, as the current political power in the state is strong enough.
Earlier, former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili announced that he would become the country’s prime minister if his party, the United National Movement, won the parliamentary elections.
Let us remind you that the former Georgian leader said that he was actively involved in the Georgia pre-election campaign, thus explaining the media information about his return to Georgia.
