The director of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmitry Razumkov, admitted that he had never used marijuana and opposed its legalization, including for medical purposes.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmitry Razumkov, opposed the legalization of marijuana and the free movement of weapons. He spoke about this in an interview with the Ukrainian news agency on September 7.
The Rada Spokesperson did not support the legalization of marijuana, not even for medical purposes.
“I do not support this idea. I myself have never used [марихуану], and if we talk about medical purposes, very often we have bad ideas under a beautiful sign. Therefore, I do not support it, “he summarized.
Razumkov believes that society is not yet ready to legalize short-barreled weapons. Razumkov is of the same opinion on the legalization of prostitution.
“I think this is not for the Ukrainian reality. I do not think that mentally, religiously and historically Ukrainian society is ready to legalize this service sector,” he said.
The Verkhovna Rada of the last convocation tried to solve the problem of the legalization of cannabis in Ukraine, but did not succeed. Za project №10313, authorized the cultivation of hemp for scientific, industrial, educational and medical purposes, registered May 20th. The document was included in the Verkhovna Rada’s agenda on June 6, but MPs did not begin to consider it.
In January 2019, former actor Ukrainian Minister of Health Ulyana Suprun advocated for the legalization of marijuana for medical use. On August 30, Suprun said that Ukraine’s Interior Minister Arsen Avakov had blocked the transfer of medical cannabis from the drug category to the restricted drug category.
