Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy named Ukraine’s main target at the Ukraine-EU summit to be held on October 1.

He said this during a telephone conversation with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, reports the press service of the Office of the President.

According to the president, he sees the renewal of part of the Association Agreement with the EU among the main objectives.

“Among the main results of the summit, I see the confirmation of the recognition of Ukraine’s European aspirations, the achievement of agreements on the start of work to update the trade part of the Association Agreement, because it no longer reflects the economic realities of Ukraine and the EU, “Zelensky said.

As previously reported, Ukraine will create a center to update the Association Agreement with the EU.

Also, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that Ukraine wants to update the Association Agreement with the EU at the October summit. According to him, the agreement should be more flexible. Formal negotiations to review the agreement will begin in January 2021.
