Russia and Germany don’t talk about stopping Nord Stream 2

The Russian authorities are not afraid to stop the construction of the project in Berlin due to the situation with Navalny.

There is no threat to block Germany’s Nord Stream-2 project now, Russian President Dmitry Peskov’s press secretary said Monday, September 7, writes TASS.

When asked to comment on speeches by several German politicians calling for a halt to the project, Peskov noted that the Kremlin is observing these statements.

“For now, we are registering that for each new statement, two statements appear that speak of the absurdity of such proposals,” he said.

In turn, according to Interfax, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said it is too early to answer questions about the completion of the Nord Stream 2 construction in connection with the poisoning case of the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

“It is too early to tell you about our joint European reaction on this matter,” Seibert said.

Recall that German politicians began to appear demands to review participation in the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline after statements that Navalny was poisoned with a nerve agent from the Novichok group.

At the same time, the German Foreign Ministry said that the Navalny problem does not concern Nord Stream-2.
