Russian political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky believes that the current President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, “not a single person in the world believes.”

The current president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, is trying to obtain Russian protection in the situation with protests. This opinion was expressed by the Russian political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky on September 5 on the air of the radio station “Echo of Moscow”.

“Now Alexander Grigorievich makes it clear that because of Russian patronage he is ready for anything. But who believes him? Not a single person in the world believes him,” he said.

The political scientist suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin “does not love” Lukashenko, because “he threw Russia many times.”

“Here a compromise is possible. The legalization of the Russian military base in Belarus is also possible, which will exclude the integration of Belarus into NATO and therefore satisfy Vladimir Putin in this regard and issue. Including the preservation of the Volga radar station, which is considered an important part of the missile attack early warning systems. And so on, “Belkovsky explained.

According to him, “even more rude and brutal variants are possible, such as the creation of the united armed forces of the Union State.”

“This does not mean the unification of the armies, but the creation of a single contingent, partly made up of Russians, partly by Belarusians, which will be stationed in Belarus and will terrorize everyone,” said the political scientist.

Mass protests have been going on in Belarus since August 9. The protesters believe that the results of the presidential elections were falsified. According to official data, Lukashenka won with 80.1% of the voters. Opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya came in second with 10.1% of the vote. At the same time, alternative exit polls showed the opposite picture: Tikhanovskaya’s confident victory.

The Belarusian security forces violently dispersed the demonstrations, in particular with the use of stun grenades, rubber bullets and water cannons. During the protests, about 8 thousand protesters were arrested, hundreds were injured and wounded. According to official figures, killed four protesters.

Putin declared his readiness help Lukashenka suppress protests.
