German authorities have long satisfied a request for legal assistance from Russia in the case of the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. However, Navalny is now undergoing tests at the Charite clinic.
This statement was made by German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas on the air of the ARD television channel.
According to him, there is no reason not to comply with the request of the Russian side. The German government has already informed the Russian ambassador about this.
“There is now an examination in the Berlin ‘Charite’ clinic. But we clearly said that if there is a formal application, we will issue all the permits that are necessary to exchange information on this application,” Maas said.
Note that today the press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, accused Germany of allegedly delaying the process of considering a request for legal assistance in the Navalny case.
We will recall, earlier Maas declared the existence of “many signs” of Russia’s involvement in the Navalny poisoning.
In addition, the German defense minister does not rule out the introduction of sanctions against the Russian “Nord Stream-2” due to the poisoning of the opposition leader Navalny.
