Petro Poroshenko fell under new Russian sanctions

The Russian Federation has expanded personal sanctions against Ukraine, including former President Petro Poroshenko, among others.

The decree on this is published on the official legal information portal.

The list also includes former Golos party leader Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, the head of the Independent Union of Miners of Ukraine Mykhailo Volynts, the advisor to the First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv, the People’s Deputy Kira Rudik. A total of 41 people were added to the list.

Russia introduced economic sanctions against more than 300 people and 68 legal entities in Ukraine in 2018 (the list was expanding). This was a response to the Ukrainian sanctions following the annexation of Crimea.

The list included Arsen Avakov, Yulia Timoshenko, nationalists – Biletsky, Yarosh, Kokhanivsky, Karas, businessmen – Gennady Korban, Gennady Bogolyubov, Yuri Kosyuk, Pavel Fuks, Alexander Yaroslavsky, Nikolai Zlochevsky, Yuri Ryzhenkov. At the same time, Petro Poroshenko was not on the list.

The restrictive measures provide for the blocking of funds and non-monetary properties on the territory of Russia, a ban on the withdrawal of capital out of the country.
