The Kiev region police solved the murder of Verkhovna Rada worker Antonina Shpir and arrested the suspect. This was stated by the head of the regional department of the National Police, Andrei Nebitov, in a briefing on Friday, September 4.

According to him, evidence was collected at the crime scene and the lab received a DNA profile of the likely killer.

“In the future, we solved all cases of robbery against women. And we found out that there is a person who committed crimes in the Kiev and Zhytomyr regions … The last act was committed in the Fastovsky district. This made it possible to establish the place of possible residence of the murderer. It turned out to be a citizen, who was repeatedly convicted. The last time he served his sentence in 2011 for robbery and was released in 2016 “, – said Nebitov.

He added that the perpetrator assaulted Antonina Shpir while walking from the minibus. He stole her, then dragged her into the field and killed her because the woman resisted.

The malefactor faces life in prison and is now being held as a preventive measure.

We will remember, on July 3, 2019 in the Kiev region, in a cornfield, the body of the missing worker from Verkhovna Rada’s closet, Antonina Shpir, was found. A 66-year-old woman was killed on the road from Kiev to the village of Dyminovka.
