In his opinion, the images of the rulers on the first Ukrainian one and two hryvnia banknotes were better. “I want to thank the congratulations and ask the president of the National Bank [Кирилла Шевченко] “Still shave the beards of Volodymyr the Great and Yaroslav the Wise and bring us back to our princes in the way they were in the best original hryvnias,” he said on the anniversary of the appearance of modern Ukrainian currency.
Shevchenko, in turn, pointed out that these banknotes, issued before 2003, will be withdrawn from circulation. They are valid until October 23.
It was previously reported that as of October 1, 2020 in Ukraine, banknotes issued before 2003 and 25 kopeck coins will be withdrawn from circulation.
In the fall of 2019, the NBU put into circulation a thousand hryvnia banknote, which became the country’s highest denomination banknote. On the front of the banknote there is a portrait of the Russian academic Vladimir Vernadsky. He was called “a famous Ukrainian scientist”.
