The popular Youtube channel Digital Foundry, which belongs to the no less famous Eurogamer portal, has published one of the first live reviews of the GeForce RTX 3080 video card. According to Nvidia, this review has a number of limitations: the manufacturer chipmaker independently chose the list of games, set 4K resolution at the maximum setting, and also prohibited specifying the exact values of frame rate and time.
In fact, the “distilled” video shows only the relative advantage of the GeForce RTX 3080 over the previous generation GeForce RTX 2080. However, the numbers are impressive and almost double the size, perhaps the biggest performance jump in Nvidia’s history between the successor and the current graphics card.
For convenience, the data is combined in a table. As we can see, the superiority of the GeForce RTX 3080 is in the range of 70% to 92%. A retail sample of the Founders Edition accelerator fell into the hands of a journalist. As we know, the reference version is equipped with an original cooler with fans on two different sides and a 12-pin power connector.
RTX 3080 vs RTX 2080 | 4K / Maximum settings / Performance increase in% |
---|---|
Borderlands 3 | + 81.6% |
Doom Eternal | + 84.2% |
Shadow of the Tomb Raider | + 69.8% |
Control | + 77.6% |
Ray Tracing: Quake 2 RTX | + 92.3% |
Ray Tracking: Control / High RT / DLSS Perf | + 77.6% |
The package includes a two 8-pin to one 12-pin adapter-adapter. The video output set includes three DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI 2.1 with support for 4K @ 120 fps or 8K @ 60 fps modes.
