Cuba recognized the results of the presidential elections in Belarus, becoming another country that confirmed the legitimacy of the head of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko. This was stated in his Twitter– Account of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Latin American country Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.

On August 10, the day after the vote, Lukashenko received congratulations on his victory from the heads of Russia, China, Turkey and Venezuela, as well as several CIS countries.

The protests in the republic have been going on for three weeks now, the opposition demands to dismiss the current government, hold new presidential elections and investigate the abuse of the protesters in the first days of the demonstrations. On August 27, mass arrests of protesters and protesters began again in the country, as well as journalists. The citizens of Belarus do not recognize the official election results, according to which Lukashenko, who was running for a sixth term, received 80 percent of the vote.
