The players, coaches and staff of the Dutch AZ of Alkmaar will not have to be quarantined, as previously reported, due to a visit to Kiev for the Champions League qualifying round 3 match against Dynamo.
Ukraine, like other Eastern European countries, is indeed on the “orange list” due to the COVID pandemic. At the same time, the Dutch authorities have established a 10-day quarantine requirement for people arriving from these countries.
However, as explained in the Netherlands Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports, these requirements do not apply to athletes for whom the government makes an exception.
“We understand the importance of the situation. We are willing to make exceptions in such cases, ”the ministry said in response to a request from journalists.
Therefore, AZ can safely fly to Kiev for the game against Dynamo, which is scheduled for September 15, and then return home to play within the Eredivisie against PEK Zwolle, scheduled for September 19.
Let us remind you that it was previously reported that the Dynamo – AZ match could move to a neutral field. In particular, an option was considered with the organization of a duel on the territory of Poland.
