The Ministry of Health told how the dynamics of COVID worsened

Since May, the number of weekly coronavirus hospitalizations in Ukraine has quadrupled to 2,829.

In Ukraine, since May 18, the weekly increase in hospitalized with COVID-19 coronavirus has almost quadrupled, and the number of polymerase chain reaction tests, 2.5 times. The head of the Health Ministry, Maxim Stepanov, said this in a briefing on Monday, August 31.

“During the past week, 124,929 PCR tests were performed. For comparison, in the week of May 18 to May 24, 58,346 PCR tests were performed in Ukraine. The number of tests increased almost 2.5 times, to starting May 18 “. said the minister.

According to Stepanov, the number of confirmed cases during the past week was 14 458. At the same time, for the year before last, this number was 13 937 cases, and for the week of August 10 to 16 – 10 863.

“The number of people who were hospitalized during the week has also increased. During the past week, there were 2,829 people. If we talk about the previous week, 2 699 people. In the week of May 18 to 24, the number of people hospitalized was 749. You will see that more, more than three times, the number of people who are hospitalized has multiplied almost by four, “said the head of the Ministry of Health.

Stepanov also said that this morning the number of beds occupied by patients with confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis and suspected patients is 9,970 beds. A total of 36,000 beds are provided for coronavirus patients.

Remember that 2,141 new cases of COVID-19 were discovered in Ukraine during the last 24 hours. The total number of infected has exceeded 121 thousand people. In 24 hours 30 patients died.
