Residents of the village of Andreevka, Kharkov region, organized a protest against the Roma families, which turned into clashes.

According to the regional department of the National Police, some 500 local residents went to the homes of the Roma and demanded that they leave the territory of the Balakley region.

According to the police, the peaceful action turned into clashes, as a result of which the police were forced to evacuate the Roma families from the epicenter of the events.

Suspilne reports that the protesters threw eggs and stones at the Roma home and smashed a window.

According to the representative of the initiative group Vitaly Stepanenko, the residents of the village are outraged by the increase in crime, for which they blame the Roma. The final straw was the beating of a local resident in a compact Roma area.

«It was a group beating of a guy on Sadovaya Street. They are about 20-25 people. They beat me why, ask the police, ”Stepanenko said in a comment to Suspilny.

Police said that as a result of the conflict between the local communities and the Roma, there were no casualties.

At the moment, the town’s territory is surrounded by the police. Law enforcement officials say the situation is under their control.
