Goncharuk on the Constitutional Court decision on Sytnyk: There is a political crisis in the president’s team that he does not control

«This decision shows only one thing. President Zelenskiy has a serious political crisis within his own team. And this is the first crisis that the president does not handle. The presidential team turned out not to be prepared for this decision: there were no legislative initiatives to correct the conflict in the legislation and they were not adopted by the mono-majority, ”said Goncharuk.

The former prime minister pointed out that it was the presentation to the Constitutional Court that was initiated by the deputies of the presidential party together with “representatives of the pro-Russian forces.” According to him, members of the presidential team on behalf of Zelensky «they are working out the scenarios that are being written in the Kremlin “and” they have exposed it a lot to Western partners “, for whom the independence of the anti-corruption bodies is a key condition for cooperation.

He also mentioned the closure of the Rotterdam + case due to lack of SAP evidence.

We will recall, on Friday, August 28, that the Constitutional Court of Ukraine declared the decree on the appointment of Artem Sytnyk as director of NABU unconstitutional.

The NABU said that the Constitutional Court’s decision on the unconstitutionality of Artem Sytnik’s appointment does not end his powers.

NABU considers that the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on Sytnik is politically motivated.

On May 20, 2020, a group of 51 people’s deputies addressed the Constitutional Court of Ukraine with the corresponding constitutional presentation, among them are Alexander Dubinsky, Maxim Buzhansky, Viktor Medvedchuk, Ilya Kiva, Daniil Getmantsev.

Its authors argued that the fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, by appointing the director of the NABU, exceeded his powers and violated the prohibition of usurpation of state power. The Grand Chamber of the Constitutional Court began considering the petition on July 9.

Petro Poroshenko appointed Artem Sytnik as director of NABU in April 2015. 176 people applied for this position, Sytnik and Nikolai Siryi reached the final of the competition.
