In the Swedish city of Malmo, riots broke out following the action with the burning of the Muslim holy book Quran. Among the victims there are police, about 20 people were arrested. This was announced on Saturday, August 29, by the SVT television channel.

It is noted that the riots began on Friday night. Protesters set fireworks and firecrackers on fire, threw rocks at police and set car tires on fire with trash.

Towards evening, the situation worsened. The security forces tried to suppress the riots. This was done at approximately 4:00 am on Saturday.

The collisions damaged several police vehicles and at least one rescue vehicle. In the areas affected by the clashes, several cars also caught fire, the police have not yet confirmed whether the incidents were related to the riots.

About 20 people were arrested.

Swedish street artist Dan Pak previously planned to hold an anti-Islamic rally in the city, which planned to burn the Bacon-wrapped Quran. The authorities prohibited the demonstration for security reasons. As a result, it was still organized by members of the Danish right-wing extremist party Hard Course. They filmed the burning of the Quran, which they shared on social media, sparking the riots.

It was previously reported that riots began in Kenosha after police shot several times in the back of African American Jacob Blake on 23 August. The rioters broke down the doors of the local courthouse, set several cars on fire and damaged the city’s public lighting system. Units from the Wisconsin National Guard were dispatched to the city and police used tear gas to disperse the crowd.
