The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Ukraine is approaching 117 thousand.
During the last day, 2481 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Ukraine. This is demonstrated by data from the National Defense and Security Council of Ukraine.
This is 43 more than the day before, when the highest daily increase in cases was recorded since the start of the epidemic. The total number of confirmed cases of infection has reached 116,978.
2,481 people died from the coronavirus infection (41 of them in the last 24 hours).
At the same time, 1055 patients recovered during the last day; this is the maximum number of hospital discharges per day since the beginning of the epidemic. Before this, the daily increase in the number of recoveries exceeded 1,000 only once, on July 10 (then 1016 recovered were reported). A total of 56,138 people with COVID-19 have been cured in the country.

The highest daily growth was recorded in the Kiev (265), Kharkov (247) and Ternopil (227) regions. The smallest is in the Kirovograd (five) and Kherson (12) regions.
An outbreak of coronavirus infection began in late 2019 in China. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the spread of the coronavirus a pandemic.
On the morning of August 28, 24.74 million people were infected with the coronavirus in the world, of which 837.3 thousand died, 16.2 million patients recovered.
