The Security Service of Ukraine exposed an attempt to recruit a resident of one of the front-line settlements in the Lugansk region by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. The woman was supposed to spy on the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the SBU in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

The woman was reportedly recruited during a trip to Russian territory. She is the director of one of the hotels.

“After many hours of psychological pressure, the employees of the enemy special services forced the old man to sign obligations to collect and transfer information about hotel guests between Ukrainian law enforcement officers, military personnel, government officials and foreign citizens,” the SBU said.

The woman was supposed to regularly transmit information about the guests to the enemy side, but after returning to the territory of Ukraine, the SBU exposed the fact of recruitment.

The SBU noted that high treason is punishable by a prison term of up to 15 years. At the same time, in case of non-compliance with a criminal order, citizens are released from responsibility.

In the Lugansk region, the SBU’s counterintelligence revealed another attempt to recruit Ukrainian citizens by the secret services of the aggressor country.

The special services of the aggressor country do not abandon attempts to involve the citizens of Ukraine in confidential cooperation to the detriment of the national security of our country. Every week, the SBU reveals the facts of aggressive work on the recruitment of Ukrainians who cross the state border between Ukraine and Russia or are on the territory of Russia. Recently, in the framework of criminal proceedings previously opened under Part 1 of art. 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, counterintelligence officers of the SBU documented the fact that the FSB representatives of the Russian Federation hired the hotel manager of one of the border settlements in the Lugansk region. The counterintelligence of the special services established that the woman was detained by the FSB when she was leaving for Russia for international control. Due to long-term psychological pressure, the enemy’s special services forced the old man to sign a pledge to collect and transmit information about hotel guests between Ukrainian law enforcement officers, the army, government officials and foreign citizens. Representatives of the enemy’s special services insisted that the hotel manager regularly provide them with relevant information. The citizen did not have time to take any action to the detriment of the security of the State of Ukraine, since shortly after her return the fact of her recruitment was discovered by the counterintelligence of the SBU. We recall that in accordance with art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, treason is punishable by a prison term of up to 15 years. At the same time, citizens of Ukraine who have not taken any measures to fulfill the criminal task of a foreign state, a foreign organization or their representatives and law enforcement officers voluntarily informed about their contact with them and about the task received are released. of criminal responsibility.
