America turned to Russia for Ilovaisk

Washington will continue with sanctions against Moscow until it fully complies with its Minsk commitments.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Ilovaisk tragedy, the US Embassy in Ukraine called on the Russian Federation to fully implement the Minsk agreements. This is stated in a statement from the department, published on Friday, August 28 on Twitter.

“We sadly remember those who gave their lives in Ilovaisk six years ago this week, defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine,” the statement said.

The embassy also noted that Russia should withdraw its weapons and the forces it leads operating in eastern Ukraine, as well as return control of the border to Kiev.

“The United States continues with the corresponding sanctions against Russia until it fully complies with its Minsk commitments,” the press service summarized.

Recall that the Office of the Attorney General of Ukraine said that the only factor that led to the tragedy in Ilovaisk in August 2014 was the military aggression of the Russian Federation.
