The pipeline is planned to be completed, despite the regulator’s decision.
The German regulator decided, at the request of the project operator, to withdraw the pipeline from the action of the new EU rules.
According to the updated directive, the pipes that pass through the marine economic zone of the EU countries are subject to the rules of the third community energy package, which oblige the operator to reserve up to 50% of the trunk capacity gas to pump fuel from alternative suppliers.
“I applaud Germany’s decision not to withdraw Nord Stream-2 from the requirements of the updated EU Gas Directive. Such actions by the regulator demonstrate devotion to common EU standards, regardless of company or country. By For its part, Ukraine and our gas transportation system remain a trusted partner for Europe in ensuring energy transit, “Shmygal said.
He also assured that Ukraine, for its part, is implementing all the rules of the EU energy market to develop more partnerships with the EU in the energy sector.
At the same time, TASS reports that Nord Stream 2 AG does not exclude the appeal of the decision of the German Federal Network Agency.
“An appeal is possible within a month after the decision,” the company noted.
In this case, the project operator states that the decision will not affect the completion of the pipeline.
According to media reports, Gazprom is ready to continue construction with the help of the Akademik Chersky pipe layer, which recently arrived at the German port, which is the construction logistics center.
