Elections in occupied Donbass will be held exclusively in accordance with the Constitution
The Ukrainian side during the negotiations of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk again ruled out the possibility of consolidating the special status of the Ordlo in the Ukrainian Constitution. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
During the political group’s work, the Ukrainian side reportedly emphasized that elections in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbass can be conducted in accordance with the Constitution and legislation of Ukraine and on the basis of the criteria of the OSCE Copenhagen, in particular with respect to the stability of institutions that guarantee democracy, the rule of law, respect for human rights and protection of minority rights, only after Ukraine took control of the border.
Separately, the need to open a new KPVV on the demarcation line was emphasized, mainly taking into account humanitarian criteria, and it was noted that the KPVV in Zolotoy was equipped and ready to work at any time.
In the context of the discussion of the GTA calendar, Ukraine highlighted its willingness to work in 24/7 format.
We will recall that the former Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov said that the special status of Donbass will never be included in the Constitution.
It was previously reported that the representatives of the Russian Federation in the tripartite contact group are trying to raise this issue at every meeting.
Furthermore, according to surveys, more than 60% of Ukrainians are against the special status of Donbass.
