With a warning to countries that began to weaken quarantine, a representative from the World Health Organization in Europe, Hans Kluge, spoke in an interview with Telegraph, reports TSN.

WHO warned Europe of second wave of COVID-19: even more people can die

Experts cite the 1918 flu pandemic as an example, whose second wave killed 50 million people.

Additionally, the second wave of COVID-19 may coincide with outbreaks of other infectious diseases: influenza or measles.

Kluge believes that reducing the incidence in France, Italy and the United Kingdom does not mean the end of the pandemic. He clarified that the epicenter of the virus outbreak in Eastern Europe now lies with Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

The expert recommends that countries strengthen health systems, hospitals, and primary and intensive care units.

Kluge also told The Independent that the isolation did not change the pandemic because there is no vaccine or treatment for the coronavirus.

He recalled that humanity will have to endure the existence of COVID-19, as well as many other viruses on Earth. Despite the danger of mutations that can make the virus more dangerous, it can mutate in the other direction: becoming a seasonal disease, Interfax-Ukraine writes.

As OBOZREVATEL reported, an Israeli doctor expressed the belief that humanity is in the early stages of fighting the coronavirus.
