The European Parliament also expanded the agreement between the EU and Ukraine on cooperation in science and technology.
The European Parliament, by majority vote, decided to consider, under the accelerated procedure, the allocation of € 1.2 billion to help Ukraine overcome the crisis caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Ukrinform.
689 deputies participated in the vote. “602” voted “in favor”, 80 “against” – 80, abstained from voting, so the decision was made. These results were announced by the President of the European Commission, David Sassoli.
In addition, on May 13, the deputies extended the agreement between the EU and Ukraine on cooperation in science and technology (from 2002 – ed.). 690 deputies participated in the vote on this issue, 671 – voted in favor, 10 against, 9 – abstained.
Recall on May 5 that the Council of the European Union approved the allocation of a € 1.2 billion loan to Ukraine as part of macro-financial assistance to combat the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine wrote that the EU allocates an additional € 3 million for medicines in the border areas of Ukraine, Poland and Belarus. The funds are allocated for the purchase of medical equipment or the expansion of the services provided.
