Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council decided to extend the ban on Russian sites and social media in the country. This decision must now be promulgated by decree of President Vladimir Zelensky.

According to the press service, the draft presidential decree on the application of sanctions against Russian social networks and Internet services has been submitted to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
“The members of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine considered in the prescribed manner the proposals of the introductory topics, defined in Article 5 of the Law of Ukraine” On Sanctions “, on the application of restrictive measures (sanctions). Based on the results of the consideration of the majority of the members of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the decision to apply, cancel and modify on restrictive measures (sanctions) taken, “- said in a statement.
The specified decision, among other things, provides for the application of sanctions against Russian social networks and Internet services, in particular Mail.ru, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and others.
As noted, to implement the decision, the corresponding draft presidential decree was submitted to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Recall that previously, the head of the SBU, Ivan Bakanov, proposed expanding the list of banned Russian sites. So, he proposed to extend the sanctions not only against VKontakte and Odnoklassniki, but also against Yandex, Mail.ru, Doctor Web, Kaspersky, 1C and Parus.
