Parliament rejected his appeal on the occasion of the end of World War II

Deputies decided not to delve into the historical past

The deputies lacked 26 votes to approve the proposed draft resolution; the document was rejected.

The Verkhovna Rada could not accept an appeal to foreign parliaments and international organizations on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. 200 deputies voted in favor of the appeal project on Wednesday, May 13, with the required minimum of 226.

The document contains theses on the importance of strengthening international cooperation to end armed conflicts in the world, restore international order and law, and counteract attempts to revive totalitarian ideologies.

Furthermore, in the rejected draft resolution, BP asks to counter any attempt to assign a common victory in World War II, which was won by all the victorious states and peoples.

According to the authors of the document, this is especially true in the current aggressive policy of the Russian Federation and ignoring the norms of international law, in particular in relation to Ukraine.

Recall, earlier, President Vladimir Zelensky said that May 9 is not an advertising campaign, nor a slogan contest, nor a pompous bone dance competition.
