Shmygal and Merkel argue without industrial visa and join the new NATO program
Prime Minister Denis Shmygal hopes that Germany, at the head of the EU Council, will give a clear signal about Ukraine’s European future. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the publication on the government portal after its negotiations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
During the talks, Shmygal reportedly assured that European and Euro-Atlantic integration remains the priority of Ukraine’s foreign policy.
“I hope that Germany during the presidency of the EU Council in the second half of 2020 will give a clear signal about Ukraine’s European future,” he said.
The Prime Minister also raised the issue of the possibility of obtaining visa-free industrial travel with EU countries, as well as Ukraine’s accession to the NATO Enhanced Association.
Recall that in January, at a forum in Davos, President Vladimir Zelensky proposed that the EU accept Ukraine instead of Great Britain.
“We see our future in the European Union. What the European Union should do for Ukraine is simply to accept Ukraine in the European Union. These are very complex things, although it seems to me that there are very simple solutions,” emphasized the president.
It should be noted that the course to join the European Union and NATO is enshrined in the Ukrainian Constitution.
