Ukraine plans to sign program before end of May

The Ukrainian government plans to sign an agreement with the IMF on the Stand-by program by the end of May.

The cabinet plans to sign a new memorandum with the International Monetary Fund by the end of May, the government website writes after talks between Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

During the video talks, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers expressed his hope that cooperation with the IMF under the Stand-by program, which is currently under discussion, will allow him to receive $ 5 billion. Of this amount, $ 3.5 billion is planned to be allocated to the 2020 state budget.

“This is not just financial support. It is a guarantee of receiving funds from other international financial organizations and an indicator that we are on the road to systemic reforms,” ​​Shmygal said.
