Personal data merchants expanded their databases

The attackers populated illegal databases with information on Ukrainian drivers’ licenses and biometric passports.

On the Telegram channel, where the personal data of Ukrainians are illegally sold, data on passports and driver’s licenses have also appeared. This was announced by the head of the public organization Electronic Democracy Vladimir Flonts on his Facebook page.

“We combined the data from the state registries, the New Mail database, the VKontakte and Linkedin passwords, richly seasoned with bank secrecy and the result, as they say, in the dialer. Not only the passport data showed me my old passwords (old, but real at the time!) but and biometric passport data (including photos) and a cherry on the cake: a driver’s license, that I didn’t even know, “wrote Flonts.

The data exchange channel said that after three days of free access, data usage will cost $ 500 and more than 5.2 million in its database.

“By verifying yourself (especially yourself), you share information with the owners of the” base, “Flontz said.

Social media users suggested that the data entered illegal databases from the D_ya app. Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov has denied this.

“This is impossible even theoretically! First, and most importantly: Diya does not have a database and does not accumulate such information. Second, the amount of information that is available in the indicated bot is a lot, tens, or even hundreds of times greater than that Diya works with, “Fedorov wrote on Telegram.

According to him, a preliminary analysis of the bot’s information indicates the use of old databases that have been available on the dark network for years.

“In particular, we are talking about the PrivatBank database, as well as other private (non-state) databases. For example, VKontakte, Linkedin passwords are available in the bot,” wrote Fedorov.

He said that the Ukrainian Security Service has already started relevant investigative actions regarding the publication of data.

Recall that in April the Citizen Cabinet was launched on the Diya portal. The service contains data on real estate, land, businesses, automobile citizens.

Before that, Zelensky featured electronic passports on a mobile app.

As you know, the application was submitted on February 6. It will allow you to store documents (for example, a driver’s license and a registration certificate) in electronic form and will simplify the use of online public services.
