The Telegram UA Baza bot allegedly has data from millions of Ukrainians at its disposal. Ukraine’s Digital Information Ministry rejected reports that the source could be the Diya app.

A Telegram bot appeared on the network, which provides personal data of Ukrainians, in particular driver’s license data. This was announced on Facebook on May 11 by the head of the public organization Electronic Democracy Vladimir Flonts.

“They showed me not only the passport data, my old passwords (old, but real at the time!) But also the biometric passport data (including photos) and a cherry on the cake: a driver’s license, from the I didn’t even know. Even in “Дії” It doesn’t show it, but the guys in the database have it, “he wrote, attaching a screenshot from the UA Baza Bot.

Information about the bot itself says it provides 4.5 billion logins and passwords. When you start the bot, you are asked to search for information by entering personal data such as surname, name and patronymic, telephone number, tax identification number, passport number and others.

The Ministry of figures stated that the data download is not related to the “Diya” application. The ministry emphasized that the application does not have its own database and does not accumulate such information, but only displays information from the records.

“In Ukraine, 9.5 million driver’s licenses, of which 6.5 million are displayed on Dii. The network has information on 26 million driver’s licenses. In addition to this, along with” data from 26 million Ukrainians “, cyber criminals previously distributed other databases that were not available for the first time on the darknet, for example, passwords for personal pages on VKontakte, LinkedIn and others,” said the Ministry of Statistics.

The ministry warned Ukrainians not to try to verify the availability of information about them in the bot, as these actions by citizens share personal information with attackers.

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov noted in his Telegram that the bot uses in particular the PrivatBank database (before nationalization) and other private databases. He noted that the Security Service has already launched an investigation into the bot’s work.

The Diya mobile app launched on February 6. With this program, Ukrainians will be able to store personal documents electronically and, in the future, access all state services online. In the initial stage, the application contains a driver’s license and a vehicle registration certificate.

On April 15, the Cabinet of Ministers equated the documents in the appendix with physical documents, and on April 22 in “Дії” appeared access to digital passports.
