The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the Eastern Partnership policy adopted the previous day in the EU.

The Foreign Ministry said that Ukraine, in its vision of the future Eastern Partnership, intends to proceed from its European aspirations and elections, which are enshrined in the Association Agreement. Therefore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted to the conclusions of the EU Council on the Eastern Partnership, which were adopted on Monday, May 11.

“Ukraine supports the approach for further development of the Eastern Partnership, taking into account the peculiarities of the EU’s bilateral relations with partner countries, its priorities and needs, as well as progress towards reform,” the report said.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also assured that Ukraine remains committed to continuing the large-scale transformations defined by its course towards European integration, which is enshrined in the Ukrainian Constitution, in particular in the field of justice and the fight against corruption. , as well as in consolidating democratic principles, and thanks the EU for its financial and expert experience. support for.

The ministry noted that, in this context, Ukraine awaits the Eastern Partnership summit planned for this year in order to jointly elaborate the long-term objectives of this initiative and further strengthen and deepen relations with the EU.

Recall that, on the eve of the Council of the European Union, it approved the conclusions on the Eastern Partnership policy after 2020, confirming its strategic importance.
